This time it's screws. I was trying to clean a box fan by taking off the grills and partly disassembling it. I got 2 of the 6 screws out but the others were stuck. Then I used wd40 and got another 2 loose. The last 2 still wouldn't budge and I actually broke the screwdriver's plastic handle trying to free them. It's a Lasko box fan, maybe 20 inches, with fairly small screws. In fact, it was a jeweler's screwdriver more or less. I also tried using a similarly sized Phillips head part of the time. It didn't break. At least I was able to open the cover far enough that I could clean the blade assembly, though not remove it.

WD-40 is a water displacement product. To loosen a tight screw you might try something like Liquid Wrench. It's more of a deep penetration oil. I've heard there are even newer and better products than Liquid Wrench but I have not used them. Good luck.
I've removed firmly stuck grub screws using a fine metal drill - you just need a steady hand if you want to be able to use the screw hole again afterwards.

It was probably too far gone in the first place but the liquid wrench never worked for me. I was trying to swap out my gone catalytic with a decat and in the end I had to saw the bolts off. I got a nice trip to the hospital to pick the rust out my eyes. I'd be lying if I said I didn't move the first 5 times the doc moved that needle towards my eye
I've asked more from Liquid Wrench than it could deliver as well. But for the most part, it has helped free some pretty stubborn bolts and screws through the years. An electric/battery operated impact tool is another frozen nightmare remedy. A combination of the two has worked wonders for me. No miracles however...

Don't get me wrong it probably does work. I bought a 2006 rx8 a couple years ago so 14ish years of rust. Personally for me though it wouldn't even get the Lambarda sensor out of the cat after I managed to get it off. Had to buy another one. As much as I love the car, damn it's cost me a lot of money 
A few years back I bought a used 10' single axle box trailer. The tires were shot from sitting for years and years. Trying to break those lug nuts free was more than I bargained for. I treated the bolts with LW the night before and again before I attempted removing them. Before I was done I had the impact wrench on each nut and a 14" pipe wrench chinked onto the socket with a five foot cheater bar on it's handle. I don't know that the Liquid Wrench helped but it didn't hurt anything. 
Speaking of drills, an easy out (I never had much luck with) might be something the OP might try to remove his fan screws.

That brings back some memories. I was trying to change my back break pads and discs. Right on cue the back wheels had a locking not I didn't have the key for. I had the front wheels but back ones no. I borrowed a universal socket of one person and a nut cracker of someone else. The nut cracker shredded the socket while taking the first one off. Had to take my car to the garage to get them to take off the other nut.
This might sound silly but trust me, it has worked dozens of times for me over the years.
