Help [OFFICIAL] AT&T OTA Update Thread

How to block an AT& T OTA update? I want to keep from a latest update that will block roootable capability. Is there a way to disable update-notifications so I don't click and start the install?

ahh so you kept pushing it back ... yeah after a while it will auto update.

here is something you can think about. its a method the some have used in the past.

remember this is at your own risk so if you attempt any of this be aware you are solely responsible for your actions.

you can look at BK disabler from the store:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunkunsoft.packagedisabler

in the DEV options, you can prevent auto updates as well so look in there and make sure its disabled.

that app above, can turn off background services so make sure you know what you're doing. if you're handy with these tools it should be no problem for you to figure out what services on your carrier branded phone you need to disable to prevent this.

Ah, that is an excellent method! THANK you so much for that tip. I am downloading today and will research and make sure which back end service will block the updates.

Installed BK Disabler Pro. I see the follow! It two items. I want to disable the notification-only but wonder if it's required to disabled the two shown in this screenshot. I will check if additional functions need to be turned off connected to the ota notification/install before I save any changes.

its all depending on your variant, so I can't say.

however, here are some examples I found off the internet:

Software Update - con.sec.android.soagent
System Update - com.samsung.sdm
System Update - com.samsung.sdm.sdmviewer

Woke up to a software update this morning, let it run and after reboot I sent a text and noticed that the time said 2:40am when in actuality it was 7:40am. Why the time and date somehow switched off of automatic I can only guess its from the update. I went in and changed it back to automatic but that is the first time this has ever happened, not even sure what was updated. I'm on ATT by the way.

Could be anything as to why this happened.

Merged your post here in the ATT thread in case others come here with the same quirk.

Sounds harmless enough though, so I’d not worry about it. If you are concerned, calling into ATT may be an option. Worse case you can have a ticket logged and if others call in and it becomes more widespread, this may make ATT take a closer look...
