Your home network will work better when you're not sharing the same channel as a neighbor.

You can set that on your router but you have to know where the open channels are.

By the way, it's a good idea to give your network its own name, not the router default.

Tip -

If you don't want your Chromecast powered on all of the time, plug it into a USB port on your TV for power.

On the other hand, if you power it from the charger and enable HDMI-CEC on your TV, then you can pull up your app (Netflix, YouTube, etc), turn on casting - and your TV will turn on switch to the Chromecast HDMI input.

Note the model number of Chromecast: H2G2-42 a reference to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Chromecast works with the DIAL (discovery and launch) protocol.

DIAL was developed by Netflix and YouTube, explaining why those two were the first official apps for Chromecast.
