Official Jelly Bean Update?

At&t, Verizon, Sprint, C Spire whoever they are... all have given out Jelly Bean updates for various devices. Why is t-mobile always the last to the party? I want to gobble up on some Jelly Bean. I hear battery life is way improved on a lot of devices running it.

IF IF IF we do get the update and my battery life goes up I will flip out, my phone without running the hotspot has lasted 20 hours of normal daily use.

That is why they make phone called the Nexus.

Their release is so fast that nobody else gets it first!

Well the way it works is for the manufacturer to make a jellybean update. If the device is old or not popular they won't bother. If it makes sense for them they'll build jellybean for it. If the carrier is decent enough they should release it.

The nexus, however gets things pushed out immediately.

The only way for you to get jellybean on a device without it is If rom developers make on, which is tough and time consuming. They build it without the source code and are expected by ignorant buffoons who don't understand the rom process to have everything working, which is close to impossible especially if it has special features like 3d.

Or if you root, you can get it pretty quickly. Custom ROMs are better than OTAs

Custom ROM update alot. Sometimes every day. Sometimes there are problem with update and you have to do a new flash with flash reset, davelik wipe, etc.

And update Radio is another process. It know it is easy.

Because native tether work with N4, so I am not doing any custom rom or root it for now. And the Nova Laucher and Telsa is working fine to overcome a need for custom ROM for now also.

I'm talking about Android phones in general not specifically nexus. My amaze is probably not getting jellybean from an ota but cm10 is available for example

Also if there is a problem with an ota usually you have to wait until an update occurs. A custom Rom is usually faster to get fixed if there is an issue

The HTC amaze is a forgotten and abandoned phone by HTC. It is nowhere on HTC's website. We have a bunch of brilliant developers still though.

I actually like the stock Android 4.2.2 on my N4 now. I get to choose my favorite Weather app to install, my favorite launcher, etc

Now if I go back to HTC or Samsung, then I have to use their app. Then if I dont like their app, then means I have to start rooting and install cook ROM.

Nothing is easy.

I wonder what took so long. 4.1.2 was updated on the N4 many months ago. I am on 4.2.2 about two months now.

Beta testing forever? Might as well get a N4.

I wouldn't doubt a large portion of it being making the new devices have the latest and greatest OS as an attempt to lure people into upgrading their device. The S3 was T-Mobile's premier device and they wanted to keep it as an exclusive to having 4.1.2, to try to get the S2 users to upgrade to the S3. But now the S3 will be obsolete with the S4 coming around the corner, they figure they may as well give the S2 users the update, but definitely not to 4.2.2 since that will be the S4's exclusive.

I highly doubt most of the general public even know the Nexus phones exist anyways so that's probably T-Mobile doesn't really care the Nexus phones always get the updates first.
