Hi

If i download an area i have read that it only lasts for 15 days then updates. When it updates after 15 days does it redownload the entire map therefore using alot of days every 15 days when it updates?

From what I know they stay on on your device for a year; after which they delete unless you update them.

I have Google Maps set to update offline areas automatically using only WiFi. It then regularly updates areas you use frequently.

Other areas will expire after 12 months but Maps will try to update those areas over WiFi during the fifteen days prior to expiry.

If an area fails to update automatically it will remain expired until you manually update it.

An expired area will remain on your device until you manually delete it, but cannot be used until you update it.
