Offsetting Compass?

Hey guys! I'm using a tablet for marine navigation using Navionics and I have mounted the tablet in the cockpit horizontally. My issue now is that the compass now points the wrong way.

Is there a way to offset the compass say 90 or 270 degrees on the tablet?

Thanks in advance!

Maybe the compass(magnetic sensor) needs calibrating? Which on a satnav app I've used(Baidu Maps), basically it tells me to wave the phone round in a sort of figure-of-8 motion. Try another compass app as well, as maybe the whatever it is app you're using is wrong. It should work no problem with the device in a horizontal position.

I have tried multiple compass apps, and from what I have seen, they ar designed to work with the device layed flat, as in paralell to the ground (or water, in your case).

This means that they will not work right in the positions that we call horizontal (if by that you mean landscape) or vertical (portrait).

Do you mean that the direction indicator points the wrong direction or the app's user interface is the wrong way up? The fact that you talk about 90 degrees makes me think the latter.

If so it's a matter of the app's settings, or maybe finding a compass app that works properly on a tablet (I've met android apps that just assume you will use them on a phone in portrait mode). If the app will rotate with device orientation maybe fiddle with that until it's the way up you want and then turn off auto rotate. But you'd probably have to do this every time you restart the device, so finding a better compass app is probably the answer.
