I've been using my GS5 for a couple years and "Ok Google" via Google App has been working fine for the whole time. I had issues using this on my Droid4, but it's always worked on the GS5. In the last month or so something has changed though. When I say something like "ok google call dad" it recognizes the text but then says "whose dad?" and asks me to select a contact. In the past the call would have gone through right away. I've read that I could add a nickname, but I don't see why I should have to do that for every contact.
For reference, I have a contact with the correct name "dad" and it has a valid phone number. I have all contacts stored on the Verizon cloud but are synced to google. When I log on to my gmail account, I do NOT see any contacts listed, but that's the way it's always been. I cannot think of anything I've changed/installed in the last month or so that would have affected things. I do have App Ops installed, but I looked and it does not appear that anything is restricted for the Google App. I have cleared the cache and data on all of the apps that seemed like they might be related (Cloud (Verizon), Contacts, Google App, Google Contacts Sync, Google Play Service). I updated the Google App to the latest version as of last weekend. However, I'm still unable to get "Ok Google" to work again with contacts.
