Help OK Google Not behaving on Samsung Galaxy Note 4

I have the Note 4. When I first got it I activated OK Google Detection to be Always on.
Recently, My Note upgraded from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1.
No I noticed that OK Google only worked from the Google Now Screen.
So when I went to the settings I found that...
Always On
and
Personal Results
are both greyed out and unavailable.
Now I can't detect OK Google from another app or the lock screen or an off screen.
Has anyone seen this?
More importantly, does anyone know how to fix this?

Howdy there Jack!
I've moved your thread into the Note 4 forum just in case others with your device have the same issue.;)
fwiw, do you have the "google settings" in your app drawer? (or is that what you are talking about)
If so, go to the "Search & Now" tab.
Then the "Voice" tab.
Then the "ok Google detection" tab.
You'll find some options there.

If I am totally wrong about that, just mutter under your breath that I'm in idiot  :D

Hopefully someone with your device can better assist :D

Edit: oh, perhaps this thread in the sticky may help?

I appreciate all that you tried to do.
My issue was "WAS" that when I went to the settings you describe and found that the "Always On" setting was greyed out and rendered unavailable. Nothing I tried cleared that.
Repeating... I found all the options in the drawer on my own. The options however, were basically turned off.
So I called my Provider (chatted).
This is what they did. They first had me power off and remove the battery.
Next, I restarted the device. Still not working.
Next, they asked me to type in the following code on my phone keypad.
##72786#.
Be careful if you wish to try this. It executes after typing in the last #.
It asked me a few yes or no questions. Some with a warning banner.
I answered "Yes" to all allowing it to do its thing.
During the process the device rebooted twice.
Once done, everything was back to normal. All my options were available.
No data or settings were lost.

This helped me. I hope it can help others too.

All I did to solve it was to go the Application Manager and clicked on S Voice and disabled it. Then I went to Language and Input under System, then Google voice typing, then "Ok Google" detection and then made my choices there. I restarted the phone and it's done. The only thing I did notice is that now it won't work if the phone screen is off as when it goes to the lockscreen. Now, you have to press the home button, but you don't have to unlock it, just say "ok google" and it works. However, if it's being charged, it works at all times, even a blacked out lockscreen. I'll take it.

Hello Jack,

seems like we have the same problem, where the Google app setting button when trying to enable OK GOOGLE is grayed out & inaccessible. However, I tried the procedure you did (dialed ##72786# on my phone keypad, and nothing happened. I tried calling the same input numbers and of course, the number us unreachable.

Did I miss something? What do I need to do after entering the number codes on my keypad?

I'll really appreciate a follow up response/ solution to our OK GOOGLE set up problem.

Has anyone tried the Suarez solution shown a couple of posts above? Worked before the update which I'm not accepting yet.

JM

All I did was enter the code. as soon as I typed the last # it went into motion. It asked me assorted questions about continuing. I answered "Yes" to all of them. That worked for me.
I did this with instructions from my provider during a chat.
Maybe I did something else too. I can't remember if I did.
I suggest that you do what I did.
Get your provider in chat.
Explain the issue.
Let the provider walk you thru the process.

By the way, my provider is Sprint. Perhaps your provider is someone else.
Perhaps another provider has another code to do the same thing.
I would check with them

i did a factory reset a few days after upgrading. i had all of the options avail prior to resetting. After the reset, now i cant access them. i tried all methods recommended above and nothing worked.

I've been reviled for saying this, but I never factory reset. Did it once because of all the 'expert' advice and had a tough time getting back to normal; never again!

I had the same issue with the greyed out buttons.. The solution I read, was to go into manage applications, and disable S Voice.. Then Reboot... Now go into Google settings and all buttons are now available.

I saw that solution and tried it. Nothing changed. I guess this symptom can be caused by any number of conditions. That's why some solutions work for some and not for others

Hi guys . Just disable Svoice from App manager. Then in language and input select Google voice. If any multiple languages are downloaded delete all except one . It should start working

There have been some updates. After updating the Google app, the phone needs to be rebooted. This feature was removed and then re-added in a recent update.
