So I was searching the xda forums and ran into this

(New After JK4 Froyo) POLL:Bell I9000M Internal SD Failures - xda-developers

It seems like this is a real issue and if concerning me.

I just upgraded to 2.2 and love it but as I was playing with my Sgs and I had my first ever forced shut down, I'm gonna keep everyone updated since I'm going on 24 hours into my upgrade but it does seem a bit converting since over half the SGS users are complaining of dying

Again from what people are saying its not the upgrade that kills your phone its the hardware but 2.2 just makes the hardware die quicker,i figure better now then my warranty is up

If anyone has issues please keep us updated

Samsung told me different when i called them... they said its tracked to the bell tailored froyo software that causes the issues with the failed partition in the os... No recovery works, phone must be replaced or repaired. Bell won't do shit for you either...

ha ha I think we are getting the run around, if people are on 2.1 and having this problem, it cant be bells version of 2.2.

People are talking about taking this matter to the courts, and after this run around, im for it

Hard to say, my phone crashed twice so far, both times while installing apps from the market. It happened once on 2.1 and again last night on 2.2 but both times I went into recovery mode using the 3 button method and factory wiped both times successfully. Phone is running smooth right now. I noticed today my phone wasn't recognizing both internal and external sd cards but a simple reboot cured that. I just hope it was caused by 3rd party apps and not my phone dying on me.

heres another update:

Called my local Bell World, they said they had no rental phones due to 4 people coming into the store with Galaxy S problem. This is not acceptable. They said theres nothing they could do about it so I would be out of a phone for 5-6 weeks?

I called Samsung once again and they said its bells fault for programming froyo 2.2. I asked "wait they programmed 2.2?" and their response was "Yes". They also told me theres nothing they could do about it.

I should of called back and asked for a supervisor but I didnt think of it.

Next I called bell tech support. The guy on the phone knew what was going on (since he has a SGS as well and kept on the 2.1 for this very reason) he said Bell is aware of it and he said he called Samsung and they said they are aware of the problem and currently fixing it. The bell guy said he wanted to speak with a supervisor and the Samsung girl said there was no supervisor, what a joke.

So im back to square one.

Hey guys,

I'm having a similar problem, I just updated to 2.2 today, and first thing I tried to do was root my phone (yeah I know, not the best idea) but it crashed and now when I start-up I'm stuck at the samsung loadscreen and it just blinks on and off, is that the same thing you guys are facing? If so my phone might have died not because of the rooting program but because of the 2.2 version that bell released.

I tried a hardware reset but it doesn't even go to the menu, I can only get to the "downloading, do not remove target" menu by clicking volume down+power+home.

Whats the problem with the phone you guys have? Can't start up like mine?

Thanks

Yes that is one of the 2 known problems. I have it too... The other is when the screen blacks out. Check XDA if you want to know more.
