Old Android as Car music server?

So here is the deal. some people have extra old android phones lying around (no service because service belongs on new and recent phone). Some people have a car. some people have wifi at home.

has anyone heard or perhaps there are good programmers out there that can turn your phone into a music player from your car. however, always leave it in your car. Example: When you pull into your garage, it connects to the wifi automatically where you can walk to your computer and load new music to it/create new play list without taking it out of the car.

I'm pretty sure you could accomplish this just by using Plex:

You would just set your home WiFi as priority 1 and make sure it always connects, have Plex running, and it should be discoverable from the Plex desktop app on your laptop/computer and any other device that has Plex installed.

I'm not 100% sure about this because I don't personally use Plex, but I'm fairly confident that's how it is intended to work or you could adjust the settings to configure it to work this way. Hopefully a Plex user can chime in with more details.

Thanks for the response. I think I might wait a little bit with plex. I think I read somewhere they got hacked?
