older galaxy s....no sound

[Android Question]

I've lost all sound. No ringtone volume. Cannot use speaker when using phone. Volume is marked all the way up. I've searched various forums but none of the solutions worked for me. My contract is up. I do not want to upgrade to another phone & be stuck with another 2 year contract. Verizon has already replaced this phone once. If I can't fix the problem, am I able to purchase this phone again & activate it myself without involving Verizon?

If I understand your question, yes, it is possible to purchase a new phone (from eBay, CraigsList, etc.), and as long as it is a Verizon phone with a clean ID, you should be able to activate it on Verizon's website.

With newer SIM card phones on Verizon, you just swap your SIM into the new phone and you're good to go!
