I know its possibly meant to be in the sports section but,

Who is going to be watching the Olympics opening ceremony?

I will personally, mainly because I've got a 3d TV that I've only seen a few things love on in 3d..... Also, I figure that if I've paid my dues for it!

Overall I've got to say I think its not been worth the money, and although id love to go to certain events, the cost if tickets, travel and the security trying to get in are ott. You're not even allowed more than 100 ml of fluid ffs, id go through that in the cue alone, and 2.50 for a small coke ain't worth it.....

Anyway, that's my tuppence worth, what do you think? (see why I put it in the lounge, not sports :-P)

Oh, one good thing I suppose is that iPhones ain't allowed..... Samsung Sponsor the events :-P

Can't wait for the opening. Gonna be class. Probably wont be as spectacular as Beijing but given its been done on a third of the budget, it'll still be impressive.
No 3D here but seeing it in HD should be good enough, was great to have Euro 2012 in HD for free, I presume BBC will also be doing some decent HD shizz.

Heh, and the Commission are phasing out those restrictions for flying! I really wonder how much damage you'd manage in a stadium of viewing area with a small liquid bomb anyway, its not a pressurised jet...

What did everyone think of the opening ceremony? I was pleasantly surprised, on the whole it was very good, would have loved to be there. Daniel Craig and the Queen were brilliant, and Atkinson's cameo was superb. Few meh bits like the text messaging/social media thing, more than made up with the NHS/Children's story thing, that was adorable, loved Voldemort and the flying Mary Poppins. Loved the selection of music as well.

Muhammad Ali really shouldnt have been there. He was helpless, poor man. Not a great representation for that pillars of Olympic morality thing either I guess.

I liked it and my daughter was riveted. The literary characters bit was really well done, and yes, the Queen was great. I liked that the transitions between eras were done manually, it added a human element that is sometimes lacking from the opening ceremonies.

I thought it was hands down the best opening ceremony I've seen. Thought the industrial revolution part at the beginning was immense and really liked the mish mash love story, social network and music thing they did. The NHS childrens book bit was a bit out there but on the whole it was really cool, might be my British pessimism but expected it to be a bit crap if I'm honest, was pleasantly surprised... up yours Mitt Romney :D

Personally I also enjoyed the ceremony, so much so I rewatched it tonight on I player...

1 thing has disappointed me, last night we watched the fill thing in 3d on BBC HD.

Obviously at the time we were slightly confused about little bits but really enjoyed it all, especially the effects being in 3d....

Today these things made sense, for some reason the footage was very different throughout, and different commentary! During the 3d version we didn't have the text messages flash up during the mobile phone scene etc......

It has put a slight damper on the whole 3d experience!

However all credits to Mr Boyle!

I missed the beginning! :( I only got to the nations starting with a "T".

I liked the ceremony over all and the idea for the big flame.
