Once changed manually, application icons cannot be changed by applying a theme

I have found that once you change an application's icon manually (whether it be by selecting from an icon pack or using its default icon), then it will stay with that choice even after a theme with an icon pack is applied. Is there anyway to alter/reset this behaviour?

If you remove the icon from the homescreen, then add it again via the app drawer, it should have the correct theme applied.

I've encountered similar behaviour on both Nova & Apex and that's how I normally sort it.
