A shorter answer would be what can't Tasker do.
Tasker reads my Google Calendar and automatically silences my phone during meetings. If someone texts me while I'm in a meeting, they'll get an autoreply that lets them know I'm in a meeting and will get back in touch with them later.
When I hit my Tasker "Driving" widget, Tasker throws a couple of apps in my notification bar for quick access, launches BeyondPod and starts playing my podcasts, turns off my PIN lockscreen (I use Secure Settings plugin for this), and reads aloud any SMS or Google Voice text messages I receive while I'm driving. It will also send an SMS back saying that I'm driving and will respond soon.
When I get home, Tasker sees that I'm home and turns on wifi and turns off my PIN lockscreen. At a certain point in the evening, if Tasker sees that I'm home, it will silence my phone automatically. Tasker will also read my Google Calendar to see what time I need to get up the next morning (default is 5:30am, weekends are 7am, vacation days are 7:30am, or I can set a special wakeup call if I need to get up before 5:30am) and will harass me at the proper time until I wake up and stop the alarm. Tasker also retrieves the local weather report from Google via SMS.
Tasker will initiate a wakeup call to my husband based on a Google calendar entry. If I'm in a meeting, it won't use the speakerphone but will still make the call.
I also have a couple of egg timer tasks set up so I can make my husband's hard-boiled eggs the way HE likes, and mine come out the way I like.
That's just a few things I've set up. And I've barely scratched the surface of Tasker's capabilities.

How do you get Tasker to read your google Callender and make your phone go to silent automatically based on the times in the Callender without user intervention?
I have a profile that uses a State of "Calendar entry" and I use pattern matching to find the word *meeting* (or a whole list of words like *meeting*/*appointment*/*training* etc.) in the event title for whichever Google calendar or calendars I'm wanting to monitor. Then in the task for that profile, I have it go into silent mode, among other things.
Never noticed calender entry, I'm going to have to look at that, sounds very interesting.
haha thats wicked.
I think you should write a tasker guide![]()
