Ok I'm really at a crossroads now!
I own the X10 and when I got it I spent a week or so looking up phones and chose the X10 on the grounds of its specs and hardware but now after 3 weeks of ownership I have found out what Android is what it does and what other phones are about.
Most important, I found out that Sony is so far behind that its like watching a PS1 going up against a PS3.
I have 3 options as I see it, sell the X10 and buy a Desire, keep the X10 and hope to god that sony pull their finger out of their arse and give us 2.2 soon and then ver3 next year or the third is root the bitch!
It seems the guys over at XDA have cracked it and I'm sure it wont be long till they write some very nice code for it.
So what would you do?
Sell on and buy a Desire.
Keep hold and have faith in Sony (I laughed typing that
).
Root it and open up the world. (I have read that if you want to root, do not update)
