One s3 showing EE and another showing Orange as network

I have my phone and a friends phone, both were bought within a week of each other from carphone warehouse and they are both on tmobile

Mine has really good signal strength, but hers was showing really poor performance. Mine was showing signal strength as -83 dBm and hers showing -103 dBm. Mine is connected to the EE network, and hers was connected to the tmobile network. When I changed hers manually to the orange network, the same signal strength was shown

These are identical s3's, but why are they not connecting to the same network

Just to add a bit more info. These are both on jelly bean (unbranded).

When I go into settings, more settings, and network operators, it then searches for available operators. Mine shows EE, as well as O2 and Vodafone, the other phone shows O2, Vodafone and tmobile and orange as separate entries

Orange and T-Mobile merged a few years ago to become Everything Everywhere. The companies are separate but they share the same network hence what you and your friend are seeing.

I know they merged, I was with orange on a previous phone. What is confusing me, is my phone is showing EE, whereas her phone cannot see EE, and only the separate orange and tmobile networks

This is when the phones are side by side

You have to re-start the phone for it to change from Orange/T-Mobile to EE. If you do that, does it solve the problem?

Nope, the phone has been rebooted a number of times, and also rebooted since the JB update. The only other thing that I am thinking of doing, when I have that other phone again, is sending down the settings from the t-mobile website. Maybe it is using old settings .. not sure

I dunno about the lte thing. We have 2g blackberry devices showing EE. It's probably a SIM / account thing. Not that it matters. Some others still say t-mobile / orange.

Probably updating accounts ad hoc

Since I changed it to the orange network, it is now switching between the tmobile and orange network automatically, which it wasn't doing before, it was stuck on tmobile .... Ah well, at least it is kinda fixed

Im on orange uk and was showing orange as my provider until last week when i got a sms message saying i had been moved over to EE. And that i was to restatrt my phone to complete the move.

Looks like its a roll out type affair.

Hope that helps a little.

Hi. I have the same problem with my wifes phone! Was wondering if you solved the problem? I contacted tmobile today and they said i am still with tmobile but the EE is just an updated name!? I also have better signal! Why did i get a message from tmobile telling me to restart my phone etc. to get onto EE? Would be grateful if you could shed some light on the situation!

Nope, my girlfriends phone is still showing orange/t-mobile, still has not changed to EE

My girlfriend uses my old iPhone 4. Her carrier switches between "EE" and "Orange/T-mobile" regularly.

I don't think it's a problem with the handset, rather an account/service glitch - perhaps cached somewhere within the network?
