One X + aux cable + car charger conflicts?

Hi!

Absolutely love (LOVE) this phone - after enduring two years of the Hell Which Is ITunes I finally moved to android and am SO much happier. I use this thing all the time for everything (vs AVOIDING using the iPhone).

I have it plugged into my car aux system so I can use it both as a phone and listen to music. I use a double-ended, hardwired cable to plug it into the 3.5mm socket in my car. It works great EXCEPT I can't plug it into the car charging socket (lighter adapter, not USB) at the same time without getting a horrible "mains hum" interference.

So, two questions:

1. Is this kind of interference normal?
2. I'm considering buying the HTC Bluetooth carclip dongle - will it suffer from the same kind of interference?

Thanks in advance! Look forward to learning more about this amazing device - it's exactly what I had once hoped the Palm Treo would become in time.... only better!

PS If there's an existing thread discussing similar, please point me to it. I did look around the site but didn't see anything.... thanks in advance!

Hey and Welcome to the Forum :)

Can I ask if the noise still happens when you change the car stereo for some head phones?

It maybe feedback from your stereo... I have had this with the iPhone and HTC Desire but I have not tried with this phone...

A bluetooth should work fine as most car kits ive seen that play music and have a charger work fine...

Hope this helps...

get the bluetooth clip and a proper htc car adapter - this makes the phone go into car dock mode automatically, turns on bluetooth and charges properly

Following up on this (and thanks for earlier responses)

I did indeed get the car clip - with one exception it is WONDERFUL. Sound is great and it works exactly as advertised.

HOWEVER. When the phone rings, it reverts to the speaker on the phone itself, which is awkward when drivingd

Is there any way to play telephone calls through the speakers, as it does when it's connected via a hardwired 3.5mm cable? It works perfectly, but I want my phone calls to play over the speakers as well. The mic in the phone is just fine for conversations this way (I've been using it like that with the cable).

Thanks again!
