Online purchase question

Over never bought a phone online before so in asking this. If I buy a phone online as an upgrade right before the deadline to grandfather unlimited data, but it gets shipped to me after the deadline so I'm also going to Verizon and activating it after the deadline, can I still keep my unlimited? How does that all work?

Unless it is back ordered, I usually get phones within 24-36 hours when I order from VZW online. I think your contract is renewed when you place your order, not when you actually activate the device, so that part shouldn't matter. Just be careful as the online order sort of tries to trick you into choosing a tiered plan. The default is 2GB IIRC. Just read the page where you are choosing a data plan carefully.

Thanks. Also, I will probably pay by charging it to my account so it will be on my next bill, then selling my current phone to pay for it. Is that possible online?

Yes. And one time it took them 2 billing cycles to add it, so I must have gotten lucky with my timing.

Also, I just noticed you said you would go to verizon to activate it. You don't need to do this, there are instructions that come with the phone. It usually only takes 5 minutes or less. Even when I ran into trouble, a quick call to CS resolved it quickly, just call from a phone different from the ones you are activating/deactivating.

Thanks! I do remember being able to activate a couple refurb droids, I just haven't done it with an LTE phone before, should be no big deal.

I'm just preparing for the worst case scenario. If we all find out the deadline to keep unlimited data after upgrade, and nothing new is out yet, I will have to order something (like an SGSIII) before it's too late.

This is unfortunate, I love my Rezound that I got on a ghost line, but I'm upgrade ready, and as much as I hate switching, I would hate losing unlimited even more.
