Only a micro SD card slot in the Note 5 can save the Note 7

Samsung needs a quick fix immediately because there are die hard fans out there that need a large screen display phone with high end features and a high end quality build. The only thing i can think of is this. Since the carriers are still carrying the Note 5, I think Samsung should hurry up and make a micro SD card slot to the Note 5 line, do a price drop on the Note 5, carry the Note 5 till summer 2017 and then release the Note 8 or rename the series the Samsung Galaxy N8 - since the word "NOTE" might have negative connotations at this point.

I ended up having to buy the Samsung J7 phone because it was the only large screen phone in their line up that was left. I couldn't get the Note 5 because the lack of a micro SD card slot and the S7 Edge is awful with those curved edges. I could go back to my Note 4 but it is literally dying. The Marshmallow update has literally killed my device and makes it function super slow. I am not sure why it takes 5 mins to send a simple text like: Hey, how are you? I press one litter and it takes over 1 min to register.

Anyone else have this issue? Anyone else think this is a quick fix to help salvage the need for users with a large display?

I've seen many people complaining about the lack of a SD card on the Note 5, but there are two hurdles:

1. Is the Note 5 still being manufactured? It's still being sold, but that could be left over stock.

2. Is there room? Space is tight when designing phones, even with the large size they'd probably have to redesign the internal components to make room.

That could be what doomed the Note7 to a fiery ending, perhaps things were a little bit too tight with it. On the other hand, many manufacturers have been making ultra slim, highly specced phones for a couple of years now, and have usually had no problems.

EDIT

Thinking about this, could be space for a micro-SD in a dual SIM version Note5, in the SIM holder. Often with dual SIM devices the SIM2 slot can take a micro-SD instead, such as the dual SIM version Note7. Of course would still require the device to be re-engineered.

I was thinking about going with the Note 5. My problem is that it is already a uear old Technology. For those of us that have an 2 year contract this will make it 3 years old at the time of our next Upgrade. Another thing is I do not want to carry a Flash drive to make up for the missing MicroSd.

I am trying to figure out if I can get Electronic Signatures on the S7 Edge with a pen with a thin rubber tip.

Cracks me up when posters bring up OTG as the sd solution.

Can't charge while using it

Easy to lose

Only video is practical, since no integration for apps, photos, music, etc.

Not practical to use in a car or while mobile, since awkward and easy to break

I'm sure some Pixel owners will try to spin OTG like the predecessors, but Nope, OTG is nothing like an sd slot. Of course then they bring up the cloud, that needs a data connection and drains more battery than sd and also has poor app media integration.

Spinners gonna spin :)

I picked up a used Note 5 with Cash so I don't have to be tied to that phone for 2 years. I had it for a year (and sold it back to the carrier when I upgraded). I can live with it for another year. I have mostly switched to cloud services for data storage and 64 gigs will meat my needs for apps and whatever I need local for when i am out of range of a signal (almost never).

Adding an sd card slot to the Note 5 will require not only mechanical changes but a redesign of the motherboard (don't underestimate how big) as well as new firmware, all of which requires design, prototyping, testing and fixing. Even assuming that they still have the tooling and other components to make the phone it will be months, not weeks, before they have it on the market. And that's assuming that the authorities don't decide that the changes to case and motherboard make it a new device which needs recertification.

And of course it's still a major downgrade relative to the phone people bought.

So no, I'm sure they are trying to think of ways of keeping their customers, but I doubt this is the answer.
