Open Feint - what's the point?

Like the title says really - what's the point of Open Feint?

It just seems to slow my DHD down and I cart seem to understand what benefits it brings to games.

Can someone give me a basic, honest breakdown of the point of this addition to takes and why I shouldn't think its a big waste of time and resources?

Thanks!

Some games allow you to log out or turn it off. Those that don't, just turn your data usage off and it won't connect.

It is the same thing as Windows/X-Box Live, or the GameloftLIVE accounts. The purpose of it is to "compete" with others, showing your highscores and acheivements for games online.

I love OF and I feel it adds something huge to games when it is incorporated properly. If you don't like it, easy enough to disable. As a kid from the 80s when hi-scores used to matter, it's great to see this part of the competition relevant again. I am surprised to hear people complain about it (especially since it's free) but then I guess there's probably a lot of people who never experienced that element of games, from a different generation.

hmm I take the PC gaming perspective and used to clans, xfire/teamspeak (or ventrillo) and TWL tournaments. This is nothing in comparison. :)
