Define "open". GPS is a system of satellites over our heads in the sky. You have a GPS receiver in your phone. Navigation programs, among others, use that receiver. There's no GPS app (although there's GPS Essentials, which can show you what your GPS receiver is doing, how many satellites it's seeing, etc.) But "open the GPS" doesn't really mean anything - there's no "gps" to "open".
