Let's be honest, Joe Public has no idea what Android is, or what any smartphone runs.
There is iTurd and everything else (in their minds). It's clear to me, that any phone running android, needs to have a Android robot logo or something on the box and promotional material, so people can choose their favorite formfactor and hardware, safe in the knowledge it had a great app store than can rival the iTurd.
Correct me if I am wrong, I have never seen any android marketing for joe public consumers.
