Open4u notifications Samsung S5

Lurker
Hi
My wife is constantly bombarded with Open4u marketing notifications on her Samsung S5. I believe the virus (if that's what it is) also hijacks her browser. I've searched and can only find pages that involve removal from a PC and generally with the purchase of software.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks
Doug

Welcome to Android Forums, dougg26! :)

I've never heard of Open4u marketing, but it sounds like a rogue app is spewing this garbage. Do you know if your wife had installed some new app shortly before this started?

On her device, using a browser, go to My Android Apps in the Play Store; this will list all her apps, most recent first. See if anything looks suspicious and/or was recently installed. Try uninstalling any such apps, AFTER going to them in System Settings and clearing their cache and data. Restart the phone, and let us know the results.

Thanks for that. Tbh she wouldn't know an app from her elbow, but worth a look :)
I might also do a screen dump next time her notifications are full of this junk and post it on here if your suggestion doesn't work
Thanks
