That along with app2sd will pave the way for exciting games for android. Droid's hardware supports 2.0 but the OS didn't support it.

Yes, Droid was the first of what I call the 'competitive' Android phones so everything after that should have ES 2.0.
We will see a massive spec war fueled by gamers and that will lead to cheaper, more powerful phones.
