Help Optimus Sol RAM prob

Hi i bought this superb phone two days ago.
But it shows that i've 53MB RAM free of 372MB RAM.As per specificatins it comes with 512MB RAM.So why am i getting only 384MB of RAM usable???
When i contacted to their suppport they replied me

The LG Optimus SOl has 512 MB of RAM, but the Linux kernel that Android is based on doesn&#39t take advantage of all that memory.

So is that true???

my friend says that the 'missing' part of RAM is for android services
