Help Orange San Francisco: Future Updates?

hey just a few questions, new on the forum, quite new to android, thinking of buying a phone, its between the wildfire and this one.

first of all, should i expect the san francisco to get updates such as gingerbread or continue to get updates?
Will the wildfire continue to get updates such as gingerbread?

Should i just wait untill the ZTE Skate is released, my budget is around 150 quid for a phone. The wildfire pushes it a little bit, and the zte is wayyyy under it.

So im wondering is it worth while getting the san francisco and expecting any updates.

BTW, quick questions,

where can i get battery upgrades for this, i know this phone has a horrible battery life, so im thinking of buying something like a 1400 to 1500 mah battery instead for it so it lasts much longer.

EDIT:

What is ROM? Apparantly differnt roms affect battery life? If so which is best?

There were rumours of the SF getting Froyo, but they were just rumours and totally unconfirmed. I'm 99.9% sure it won't get Gingerbread in any official format.

I'm not sure about battery upgrades, you can try eBay or amazon, but from my experience with "upgrades" for other handsets, they're comparable to the standard ones you get with the phone. If you find you're running out of charge on a regular basis, you could try an external battery pack to charge whilst out and about?

ROM is the standard software on the phone. Because the stock orange ROM has "bloatware" which runs in the backgroud, some people find this runs the battery down faster than it normally would. Installing another ROM would wipe this and install a clean version of Android

There are different ROMS out there, modaco and jellyfish are probably considered the best. If you want a guide to installing an alternative ROM, check the link below -

Any other questions, feel free to ask! :)

i looked at the wildfire and the galaxy europa but i don't have any regrets over my choice. stuck a new rom on it using the (excellent) guide mentioned above and it runs very well. doubt there will be many updates but you can handle that yourself, and you can always keep a backup of the original orange firmware should you need to return your phone for any reason. great little phone, even better little price.

1)Should i get this one or should i get the wildfire? Im going to be using it mainly for web browsing, texting, watching videos etc...

2)Should i wait for the Skate? And around how much will it cost?

3)Are the usercreated custom firmwares just as good as the real ones?
