Orange San Francisco ringtones

Good day folks. I am now on my second SanFran as the first one went kaput last week. On the old one I had downloaded a couple of mp3 sounds and used them as ringtones.

However, on my new one it won't let me download them and I get the message "The target device claims it will not accept a file of the type you are trying to send." (but the old one did?)

I have also tried creating a "ringtone" folder on the SD card and put them in there but they are not found when using the "settings". I now have three folders on the card:
100ANDRO, Camera and ringtones

Any one any ideas please?

I think the right folder for ringtones is "/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones"
and "/sdcard/media/audio/notifications" for text notifications and "/sdcard/media/audio/alarms" for alarm sounds

(/sdcard is the mountpoint in Android, so if creating on PC, step the /sdcard and start with /media/... )

Thanks kejlyCZ. but the only folders I have when I "mount" the SanFran to my laptop and brouse it are:

Android, DCIM, LOST.DIR, svox and z7logs

There is no "/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones" thread that I can find anywhere even when I open the above five folders to their ends???

Should I create this path somewhere in the DCIM folder which I presume is the SD card?

I am also presuming that the SanFran (Orange) ringtones are mp3's?

The DCIM folder is your folder for pictures, don't put them in there.

Just create a folder on the root of the SD card called media then inside that folder you can create a folder named audio then inside that audio folder create one called rintones < Put your ringtones in there and they should show up in settings.

Brilliant CasualPete, many thanks. Piece of p when you know what you're doing. Two days of frustration put to rest. Many thanks to all the folks who took the trouble to help an old man out and thank goodness for forums! :)
