Info about the game:
Ore Miner is not your ordinary clicking game. Although the basic idea is simple - mining ores, it goes beyond that by including RPG elements and that keeps you involved longer than you originally thought. The game also has a unique crafting system, which compels you to constantly create new and better equipment for your miner. You can also upgrade your miner by investing earned talent points (1 point per level) into specialization. ​

Your miner has 4 aspects available for specialization:

  • Power (brute force - boosting up your gear for tapping; better XP gain leads to quicker leveling)​
  • Intelligence (boosting the idle variables like ores/sec for better ore gain; Ore generator with upgrades does the mining when you're away)​
  • Luck (increasing your chance of item drops, so that you don't have to craft so much)​
  • Barter (lower requirements when crafting items; get more ores in return when selling items)​

While you progress through levels, extra stones become available for mining. Achievements are also included, completing them gets you rewards, which you can then use in the shop for buying new gear. Latest update includes social elements (adding friends, sending items, leaderboard). For further updates we plan on introducing a competition mode, ranks and daily battles.

There's something incredibly addictive about these sort of games... I've finally managed to get over my cookie clicker addiction, and that was only done by replacing my laptop and not copying my codes to the new one.

Ore Miner certainly looks great... The graphics are clear, and nicely designed.
There is some nice gameplay behind the clicks as well, with some choices and strategy to decide on. There is enough depth to keep me going here.

The Permissions the app requires are very small.. this certainly isn't going to raid your contacts, or sell your info to the highest bidder. Lottery tickets can be earned by watching adverts, but this isn't intrusive.

The game also contains links to a wiki.. which will explain things and gives hints etc.. whether you see this as cheating or not is a matter of opinion. When I was playing Cookie Clicker I loved it, and suspect I will here as well.

I only really have one area of concern... and I appreciate its one is a bit controversial.. In App Purchases.
I really like the idea of developers getting paid, especially if it keeps them developing and making better apps. But I always feel that this needs to be very carefully balanced.. especially when they span the range of £0.89 - £94.99 per item.

Now, for the record, I'm still new to this game, and haven't felt the need to spend any real world cash yet. I suspect with this game, when I get to that point, I'll walk away and not spend anything at all.

Until i get to that point (if it ever happens) I have a feeling that I'm going to spend a lot of time tapping on my screen..

Thank you for giving it a try and diving a bit more deep into the game. We wanted some variance compared to Cookie Clicker, so we implemented specializations and this crafting with unique math behind it.

We realize IAPs are very unpopular, that's why we also offer optional adverts that give you something in return. The same goes for achievements - they are not just empty stats, but rewards can be used for further purchases. As you said, we need to find that balance, we're open to suggestions regarding that.
