Oreo Icons look horrible

Hello everyone,

I just updated to Oreo on my Galaxy S8 (verizon) and after playing around with the settings and changing things to the way I prefer them I noticed that I was unable to change the look of the icons. I am running Nova Launcher and have edited the look of the icons before, while i can still edit the icons, i cant find the google icons from 7.0 or 6.0.
Right now all Google apps and a few others have this horrible while square with rounded corners on the background of the app icon. The apps that dont have the white icon, like twitter, have transformed from their square shape with pointy corners to a square shape with rounded corners, i very much dislike this look.
I looked throughout the play-store and the launcher but couldnt find the icons from 7.0 or 6.0.
For example i want the playstore icon to just be the colorful triangle instead of it being embedded inside the while square.

Does anyone know of an app that has these icons? or is there a way to change them from the settings?

In Nova settings, under Look and Feel, there are two icon options; Icon Theme and Adptive Icon Style. Have you tried playing with those? That may you get you there.

yeah i played with those but they only seem to change the icons of all the other apps, Google apps still keep their white background
