Oreo update messed up notification sounds

Since the Oreo update on my Google Pixel XL, I can't have a notification for my texting app - Verizon Message + - and my email say or instagram. They are all the same sound. Whatever I chose under sounds setting. Is there a fix for this? I've uninstalled Verizon Message+ and reinstalled and that didn't help. In Message+ app I can't even change the sound there isn't a setting for it anymore.

It's one I've downloaded. But I can't even chose a sound within the Message+ app like I could before the update.

I see it's something that happened with the Oreo update ... take a look at this thread and see if it helps.

It does look like a pain, though.
