I am using Android for the first time and have started out with a nexus5. I wanted to get my contacts organized in my google profile so that they would look clean and consistent on my nexus.
I am noticing that people save phone numbers in different format (eg: (xxx) xxx-xxxx; xxx-xxx-xxxx; xxxxxxxxxx; etc) in their google profile. This gets imported as is in my contacts and I am not able to edit it. The information is obviously correct, but I just dont like the formatting (call me anal

How do I modify the way people's info are shown on my google contacts/nexus device?
I apologize if this is a wrong forum. I am not sure if this constraint is specific to nexus device trying to integrate google or if this is true to Android (I would assume not since Samsung GS4 would have its own interface for contacts).
