Ott M8 Android box infinite loop problem

Hey gang.
I've been Googling, and trying solutions for over a week now, and am caught in what seems like an endless loop. In an attempt to update the Android version on this Ott M8 box, I locked it up...red light, and nothing on the screen. Chip is AM8228 from 2016.
I recently got the box back to having a blue light, and a readout on screen, using cyx_m8s_v8.6_bcm4335_8g2g_kodi_addons_160125_USB.img and a male to male USB 3 cable with USB burning tool. This is an M8S image. Problem is, it works like crap, and wifi will not turn on at all.
So I've been trying to install the recovery image for the M8, but every version I find give me a parsing error when I try to load it.
I have also tried the SD card method with the recovery image...that locks the box back up again.
I can always get the box 'somewhat' active again using the M8S image, but need a real solution.
Thanks in advance.

Well, i've tried every piece of firmware I could find....including 3 versions of the box's original. I'm done until I find a real solution.

Not sure, but again, I can get it 'active' with the M8S firmware, just has the wifi issue, so it wont connect. Actual M8 firmware still gives me an error every time I try to load it
