OTT M8 TV Box issue

Howdy.

I have just bought one of the aforementioned TV boxes and I'm already having a problem. I'm running Kodi and have a Seagate 500gb external hard drive connected with music and photos. My TV box has decided to randomly turn itself off when playing media files or watching things on xbmc. Very frustrating. Could the hard drive be causing problems? Is there a firmware update? Do I need to delete the cache? Any help greatly appreciated!

is the seagate hdd powered via usb or does it have its own psu? looking at the specs of my new box it looks like the usb ports dont have enough juice to run a hdd disk without its own independent psu?

TV box randomly powering off, I would check auto shutdown settings in both Android and Kodi and if set change them to never power off or sleep. Hope this helps.
