Otterbox cases are well-known for superb protection. The Symmetry is one of their slimmer models. It combines a hard outer shell with softer plastic around the edges.
I'm generally not a fan of Otterbox cases because they are so bulky, but the Symmetry isn't too bad. It's actually pretty slim...for an Otterbox. You can actually get it in clear, which shows how thin it is. Still, it's pretty thick and you're definitely getting great protection. It's just not a tank like other Otterbox cases, which I like.
