Help Outbound calls immediately ending / Inbound calls going to voicemail

b16707

Lurker
Does anyone have any definitive solution to this problem? I must have tried and googled all the solutions out there to no avail. Out of nowhere my phone has developed this problem (samsung s8 SM-G960U).

The only remedy it seems is to clear/reset network settings. But doing so will only work for 1 call and then it will go back to ending my outbound calls automatically and redirecting inbound calls directly to voicemail. Then I would need to reset again and reenter APN settings which as you can imagine gets ridiculously burdensome.

Thoughts? Thanks!

Oops, forgot to list carrier. On Red Pocket (MVNO to AT&T)

Doesnt look like i have any wifi calling options in the "phone" app.
Ill check with my carrier to see if i can request a new sim.

This might not necessarily be a problem with your S8 but rather with your carrier on their end. If you have access to another phone (friend or relative?) try putting your SIM card in that phone and see if the call problem is still so quirky. This test might help determine if the problem is with your phone or your carrier.

Looking up Red Pocket online, it isn't just a MVNO tied to one cellular carrier, it's a MVNO that's contracted to use AT&T, along with T-Mobile and Verizon. If you do contact them about a new SIM card (which might be good to do anyway) you might also want to have them send you a replacement SIM for a different carrier. Depending on where you live, you might want to switch. Try installing this OpenSignal app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.staircase3.opensignal&hl=en_US&gl=US
It's primarily a bandwidth speed test utility but includes a handy map feature that shows local cell towers for the major carriers, and crowd=sourced data on approximate speed numbers. it might help determine which carrier has better or worse coverage where you reside.
