Outlook emails don't sync

I have a Motorola Droid with 2.2 Android OS. I have a regular old Outlook email (no exchange server to deal with) account that I am trying to view on my phone. It has been set up for months and am able to send and receive emails. However, incoming emails are not syncing (yes my account settings-->email check frequency is enable) on their own to my Inbox. Refresh doesn't work, the only solution is to reboot the phone. This is incredibly annoying...anyone have a solution? I tried the search function with no luck. Thanks in advance.
 
The same happened to me this morning, I think Yahoo changed something. I deleted my account on the phone and tried to recreate it and first got warning message: "Mailbox access is not supported for some types of Yahoo! mail accounts. If you have trouble connecting, visit yahoo.com for more information.", then after that it starts checking incoming server settings and I get error message: "Setup could not finish, Username or password incorrect" ... I know for sure that it is because I logged on on my computer using the same credentials. Now, as a workaround I donwloaded yahoo mail app from android market and am pretty happy with it but I wonder how did this happen.
 
DonkeyKong: You didn't provide enough information. Are you using a POP mail account (like Yahoo mail) or an IMAP account (optionally available with Gmail), or a MAPI Hotmail/MSN/Windows-Live account?

I use Outlook on multiple PCs (no Excchange Servers) with a Gmail-based IMAP account. My phone's built-in Android 2.2 mail apps have no problem synchronizing with Gmail's IMAP servers. (I can't think of any reason that IMAP-based mail wouldn't syncrhonize, since IMAP mail is always kept on the IMAP servers until deleted, and IMAP servers could care less whether you're using Outlook, webmail, a cell phone, or anything else to access your mail.)

If you're using POP mail, I think you have no chance of synchronizing without jumping through hoops.
 
It's POP mail using Android mail built in app - it was working up until a month ago and now it just won't sync?!?! It would show as being set up correctly (it picks up the settings automatically) but when you do refresh there are no emails in inbox.

When I click on add email account and put my yahoo email address and password and click next the pop up appears saying: "Attention, Mailbox access is not supported for some types of Yahoo! mail accounts. If you have trouble connecting, visit yahoo.com for more information". OK/Cancel.
After I click on OK I get the progress bar saying: "Checking incoming server settings" and after like 5-10 seconds I get error message: "Setup could not finish, User name or password incorrect"...which is bullshit, I know my user name and password and they work fine when I log in through the browser or yahoo android app.

I also tried putting in the yahoo pop mail server addresses manually but no luck, still wrong username/password crap.

I really prefer using built in mail app to the yahoo android app because it's much faster.

Any help please?
