Help Outlook Purging Email on Mobile (IMAP & POP)

I'll try to explain this the best as possible, giving all the information I have. Please let me know if you need any other details and I'll be happy to provide it. I'm sorry if this is a dupe, but I've only seen questions regarding POP or Exchange accounts.

So for the last 3 months, I've been using Outlook on my laptop to manage my Godaddy email (secureserver.net). The issue I've run into ever since has been that every time I load Outlook on my laptop, it purges all these email on my mobile. It happens with both IMAP and POP with the new Gmail app and stock Samsung email. Also, while Outlook is open I don't receive any email on my mobile. Note that the purge does not happen immediately, but around 5-10 mins after loading. I've also noticed that there are never any emails in my webmail at all. One would think that the issue is that I'm not requesting to leave the emails on the server, but that unfortunately is the first thing I've tried. I've been in contact with Godaddy and Outlook who have unfortunately been no help at all. To make things even stranger. Out of my whole organization, I am the only one with this problem, and the only one using Android.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

First, understands that this is not an Android problem per set. Android doesn't handle email, your email software does. It's likely a problem with your email settings somehow.

Now, we need some additional info...
What are your email sync settings on the Note in the Samsung email client and the Gmail app and for each account? I can tell that the GoDaddy account is POP3 from the incoming server's name but what are the IMAP account(s) you mentioned?

IMAP and POP are through GoDaddy.
imap.secureserver.net

What exactly do you mean by sync settings? Do you need incoming and outgoing server settings? Otherwise the only option I have adjusted is to sync every 5 mins.

GoDaddy must be either IMAP or POP3, it can't be both unless you have separate accounts with different domain names. So is it IMAP or POP3?

By sync settings I don't mean times, I mean incoming server settings such as 'Do not sync with server' etc.

Also, give any relevant server settings in Outlook on the laptop.

Are you having this problem with any other accounts or just GoDaddy?

It's probably normal to not be able access email in an account open on another machine. That is to avoid file corruption.

I have set it up as IMAP, then deleted, then set it up as POP, then back again.

It is set to sync with server
imap.secureserver.net
port 143
security type: none

Laptop is configured with the same incoming settings.

GoDaddy is the only problem I have. I apologize for not making that clear earlier.

Before this can be worked out you need to determine whether the account should be setup as IMAP or POP3. Since it seems to be a company work account, contact your IT guy or at least see how a coworker has theirs setup. Setup the laptop as IMAP or POP3 also, as is appropriate.

Below are links to GoDaddy's email setup instructions. Scroll down to see links to instructions for Outlook. Outlook really is an odd duck.

For POP3:

BTW,, I have for years, and still do, use GoDaddy email, first as POP3 and now as IMAP, on several Android devices with no problems.

I greatly appreciate you going through the trouble of writing back. Let me help clarify some things.

I am certain that my incoming and outgoing settings are correct on both mobile and laptop. GoDaddy walked me through it and our IT department has had a look as well. Also my email goes straight to Outlook and never appears in my webmail. I am the only one with this problem in our company. It doesn't matter if I set it up as IMAP or POP, it still behaves in the same way (ie purges my mobile).

Something has to be wrong or it would work right.

First, outgoing server settings have nothing to do with this. Only incoming server settings matter.

Second, you should be getting webmail. Have you checked for new webmail *before* you check with Outlook or the Note? To be a valid test, scheduled sync (check for new mail) must be off in Outlook and the Note.

Third, you *must* find out if proper setup is IMAP or POP3 and setup Outlook and the Note to the same type. IMAP and POP3 handle mail completely differently. Since mail handling is the problem, of course it's critical to get it setup right.

Again, I've used GoDaddy email for years on several Androids with no problems. If you keep having trouble you might try different email client like K9 or my favorite, AquaMail.
