Overall Satisfied or Would/Will Leave VM?

I don't wish to start any flame war or debate of one provider vs. another or the "you get what you pay for" argument. I only have a about 10 days left on my 'trial' period with VM and my OptimusV phone so I have to decide whether to stay (and port my current number over) or remain with my current provider (no contract but grandfathered in to a lower rate than exists today for basic phone service ONLY). Who better to ask than those that have been with VM for a while and those that are ready to leave for whatever reason, for their opinion. I don't have a problem with the $35.00 plan as it fits my lifestyle vs. the contract and more expensive (and phone subsidized) contract plans. The Optimus V is my first 'smartphone' and seems to be a fine entry level phone given the price. HOWEVER, there seems to be a great deal of dissatisfaction with customer service on almost all levels (so far I haven't had to contact them but that doesn't mean I won't have to in the future). This includes calling the support number for the simplest of tasks and being met with surly and very poorly English speaking techs, being told an answer will be available in a couple of days and then never hearing from them again to the TWOS problem. It appears via other posts there is an issue where 3g is dropping and the phones are not recovering within a timely manner. Along with performance it appears (as suggested by other posters) that VM is not (nor will it ever be) anywhere near its host SPRINT in upload or download speeds. Coverage appears to be an issue if one travels as roaming is NOT an option. Some people have tried to port over their phones and had it botched so badly they just gave up and "went with another provider". So the bottom line to all this is "Are you happy with VM and glad you are with them or if you knew then what you know now you would or will go elsewhere? Thanks for your comments..

Overall I am very happy with my V. I rooted it shortly I got it and have run various roms, froyo and gingerbread. I have never had to call CS, so cannot speak on that aspect. Where I live in Louisiana I have consistent speeds of around 800kbs, with occasional jumps to 1.5mbs, so I can't complain about speeds. I'm currently on one of the IHO roms and have better performance than my boss's Epic, for one quarter of what he pays per month on Sprint. With all that in my favor, why would I ever want to switch?

I would only leave for another prepay or no contract provider. For me the price I pay it is worth the loss of service at times.

When I was in rural NM I had cell service in places my family did not with Verizon. I didn't have my android at the time so I can't comment about 3g there.

With my android I've had great service around town and the little travel I've done since I've had it.

No problems whatsoever. Getting about 1200 download speed almost all the time. No chance I'm going back to another contract. If I am in the middle of nowhere, there's something seriously wrong, so cell service least of my worries :) Otherwise the phone and the 3G service has worked everywhere I've been to: NYC, SF, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Traverse City, and of course it's strong in Chicago. Customer service is a non issue. When I had T-Mobile I think I called three times in eight years. After porting my number over I have had no need to call them.

I'm happy with VM, never had a problem or billing error, been with them for 10 yrs. I think the key to VM happiness is managing your account online, a lot of questions are answered there as well as other tasks. IMO VM targets the young crowd with their visuals and language where as my friend's att Go phone experience feels old and lethargic.

I have been MORE than happy so far. Like every one else says, the price makes it all worth it. I to have not had to call customer service. I have only had it for about 2 months, but I get great coverage, and the phone (I too have the V) works great for the price. I have seen it lag a little when running alot of apps. The only other time I saw a slowness or lag was when I let the Text messages build up (I had almost 1300 texts saved on the phone). Once I deleted them it worked like normal.

The only thing I say is be careful when your "month" is up. I took my credit card off my account so it would Auto charge it, and just buy the top up cards at wal-mart every month. Then the night before the service is up, I apply them to the account. It's been pretty great. I know I was REALLY nervous about it when I first got it, but now I can't imagine going back to a contract phone and paying almost double what I pay now.
