Overclocking.

Alright guys,

I plan to mess about with my Pentium 4 3.0ghz,
its not for any main reason its just so i can learn about the aspects of OCing thats all, Any one do it or have done it?. if there is any one about out there would you any one fancy giving me abit of infomation and some advice?. cheers lads and lasses.

What do you need to know?

Overclocking in done via the BIOS. If the Advent T9 has (which a quick google tells me it has) a Phoenix BIOS, then yes its possible. However, higher frequency plus higher voltage (heat) will ruin a CPU so you have to make only minor adjustments or make allowances for cooling.

it was just a basic idea of how it works and what things i need to take into concideration thats all and i know that HEat i one of the main ones like, But do you no of any guides or articles i could read about?. Su root do you work in computers?

The main thing to worry about is the combination of higher frequency and heat. If you can remove the heat variable (via cooling or undervolting) then the frequency is not so much a problem. With the frequency alone, if you go to far, all you get is instability. with frequency and heat you can burn out your CPU.

Not trying to be cheeky or any thing but what is it you exactly do?.
Alls it is i have a interview for a IT technician i have dont this job before in a school but was about 6-7 years ago, and i have dont tech support on the phone for different media companys like mobiles and TV Sevices, i was wondering if you have any tips on interview techniques thats all? what would you look for??

UK technical team leader for (IT) desktop support. I'm kind of like a 3rd line desktop support technician if you like.

I look for experience, logic and a methodical approach. I've seen guys ripping into tcp/ip settings without checking the network cable is plugged in. I want someone who covers all bases.

To me you can train someone how to fix something but I need someone to demonstrate they can work out how to fix something they dont understand.

As for interview techniques, ask questions and engage. Its your personality you need to get across once you've proved you know what your cv says you know
