Help Overheating

Hi everybody anyone else have an overheating issue with this phone. Being outside in 80-90 degree weather makes it worse 98-104 battery temp. Yes I'm rooted on katana rom. Any advice? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yes i have the same problem as well especially when its hot. I just try not to use it as much when its hot and put it on a cool surface
 
Im rooted/twrp And on stock mm. I don't have overheating problems and Its mid 80s around here.

Not a permanent fix but Try unlocking in high temps. Should keep it cooler. If not maybe the battery is going bad?
 
I really want to love the stylo but in the grand scheme of things this is like when i had an lg motion in 2012 and then there were the flagships

Feels the same now except these cost more than my motion did years back.

Barring a travesty on Google's part i think im gonna jump ship when the next nexus devices are released (the new m1 and s1 rumored devices....like i said. Assuming they dont get botched in design/production)

But i must say i still have like 2 old lg motions. And they still work well. But i dont think my stylo will outlive them.
These devices have been buggy for the most part

My first device had random reboots right out of the box. Sometimes touch wasnt recognized etc...my wifes phone had faulty gps sensors and couldnt get her location outside...with gps on...good weather. In a major metro area.

So those got sent back right away.

Her new one is fine.

Mine occasionally has a screen flicker issue with high brightness on. Sometimes itll go weeks without doing it then one day ill be outside with brightness turned up and boom. Flickering mostly at the top of the screen.

Ive owned lots of phones and while the one i hated most was an old samsung that was sucky but because of the software. This is the worst ive had in terms of build quality.

Same boat here. I am eagerly waiting for the new nexus devices this year :). They are coming out november right?

Im not sure if itll be November. I think its most likely to at least be announced (or hinted at) in may at the google developers conference. Doubt they'll be ready to go now. If its anything like the schedule they normally follow id think you'll see it in sept-oct sometime.
 
I have faith the nexus devices will be bad ass. I really wanted to get a 6p inatead of the stylo but given the fact it came out that google was looking to merge chrome and android features (for a more desktop like functionality because i suspect they want to get the os on all devices like windows has tried) and i thought itd be even better if i waited for the next nexus devices/android version

Im not unhappy with the stylo though. Even if it is a poor mans 6p. I cant help but think that whenever i use the power button on the back haha.

I do hope the new nexus device is in the 5.7 range. I like this size but then again i do have big hands so i dont struggle too much to use the keyboard one Handed

Nice there were some speculations about a new updated 6p with 4gb of ram that got leaked in geekbench but i doubt it was a fake
 
I rooted my phone after a few days of owning it in mid January. Went crazy with app linking, tweaking the kernel's governor and max and min speeds, blocking OTA, and a few other tweaks. After about a month, I experienced similar overheating issues. I lived with it for a while.

To some degree, I think the overheating contributed to the screen flickering problems. Decided to redo my phone last Sunday by flashing the 5.1.1 image. (I haven't upgraded to MM.) Rerooted it, reinstated app linking and OTA block, but I no longer tweak the kernel or do anymore additional things (aside from using Titanium Backup, which is great as there's no custom recovery for Sprint based stylos). I've also cut back on the amount of apps I use. Initially, I used a web wrapper app for facebook, twitter, and a few other social media sites. Now I have the fb, twitter, fb messenger, and Instagram apps back on, but all other social media is accessed via the stock browser. (Personally I don't see much use for snapchat, etc as Instagram has similar features already as far as I can see... I can only keep up with so much anymore!)

As far as the screen I fixed that problem by carefully disassembling the phone, and then disconnecting the digitizer. Then I sprayed some compressed air to clean the digitizer jack and cable. Afterwards, reinserted the digitizer cable, and reassembled the phone. Now it works great! Haven't had any overheating or screen flickering since last Tuesday! I still have some cash ready to buy a backup/replacement phone, but I might be able to put that somewhere else soon.

That may be the case. But I didn't start having this issue till I flashed tmobile MM to my metropcs stylo. I uninstall system apps. So I probably screwed up something. Going to flash Metro MM version and not mess with system apps. Will post if no issues. In case other users have similar problem/situation. Thanks for reply. You may be right.
 
Hi everybody thank y'all for all the replies I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had issues with this phone. After 5 or 6 months with it it's just gone downhill for me. Thank you .

Hi, the official update isn't out from metro. However people have been flashing the tmobile marshmallow release onto their metro phones and updated that way. I hope this helps.
