"Package file is invalid" - Google Music install error?

So I got an invite to Google Music Beta, went to get the app, downloaded it just fine...but then when I went to install it, the install failed, saying "Installation Error: Package file is invalid."

I tried downloading it both from the Market, and from the internet (random direct link to the .apk). Both failed.

I have an Optimus V, rooted and running Bumblebee (2.2.1). Not sure why it failed - I searched other threads but nothing really addressed this specific problem. I did find a thread saying that rooted users SHOULD be able to use GMB, but nothing else.

Any help? I'd really like to be able to use this...

So...I FINALLY managed to get the thing to install.

Then my cloud music wouldn't sync...so I uninstalled and tried to re-install to see if that would make the sync work...and now I can't get it to install again!! Same error!

Please help, somebody?! :(

This may or may not be relevant to your situation, but here's what the deal was with mine. I have CyanogenMod 7.1 installed, which puts dalvik-cache in the /cache partition instead of /data.

When you install apps from the Market, it downloads the .apk to /cache/downloads and installs it from there. If you don't have enough room in /cache/dalvik-cache for the installer to put the necessary files there, the install fails with a "package file is invalid" error.

There's nothing wrong with the package file at all. It's purely a matter of not having enough space in your /cache partition.

(forgive me if you see this exact same post in multiple places - if I'd known weeks ago that it wasn't really an "invalid package file" issue, it would've saved me a ton of useless googling - just trying to spare others the same hassle)
