I have a Samsung galaxy 1. I'm trying to install instagram but when I try downloading it on my phone, it says "package file invalid." how do I fix this problem and install the app?

First you can open the play store> settings> content filtering > make sure all the items are checked. Now reopen the the Play Store and try installing the app again.
If that does not work, go into Settings >Apps > All > Google Play Store >Clear Cache and defaults and reopen the play store. Make sure content filtering is setup correctly and attempt the download.
You can also go to http://market.android.com and remotely download the application from a PC.
