Paid apps in Canada announcement...?

Hey all,

There was a buzz two weeks ago on tons of Android related sites that an announcement with respect to paid apps in Canada was gonna take place last week (a simple "Google" search for "paid apps in canada announcement" will show this)..

Well...the week has come and gone and I have not heard a single peep on this subject at all.

Was this announcements ever made...? Did they even make an announcement?

I'm really getting sick and tired of being left in the dark about any kind of updates to my phone....
 
out of curiosity, what reason is there for not having paid apps? Google? Why would they not have paid apps in Canada or any other country?
 
some excuse about having to setup the payout process ... probably just excuses. If Apple can do it so easily I don't see why Google can't.
 
Perhaps apple patented that too.

edit: i think they did actually!!! I am going to look through the patents, but I thought one of them had to do with one-touch application purchases.
