Paid apps on multiple phones

My brother and I both have HTC Heroes, both on the same family plan. If one of us were to purchase an app, would the other person be able to get that app on their phone without paying? Just some wishful thinking.
 
Slightly longer answer, your downloads are linked to your gmail account. Unless you and your brother use the same account, it ain't happenin'.
