Help Pairing a PS3 controller to my Android

Hi,
I just received my PS3 Bluetooth controller (Chinese counterfeit) and I was trying to pair it with my LG G4.
When clicking "Start" at the controller the led light was on and off repeatedly, does it mean its battery is empty or something? because I can't find it on my phone.

And if i'll completely charge it (now waiting for the charger to arrive), will i be able to pair it?

I found out my Android phone has to be rooted.

Is it requierd also with "Standard" Bluetooth controllers such as these?
