Palm/HP WebOS

Hi there! When I first started contemplating getting a cell phone, remembering how I had loved my (now deceased) Palm Tungsten PDA, I was really excited to hear about the Palm/HP Pre 2.

But as you might know, it was discontinued shortly after its launch, and development for WebOS was stopped until further notice. (Which is a real pity; after HP bought Palm promising more resources to develop the system, they disappoint all Palm fans.)

I love my Android device, but regardless, I'm still curious about this story. Does anyone know what happened, whether HP announced plans to do something with WebOS, be it an official announcement that they drop it forever, plans to work on it again or a sale to another company?

Oh! So they took it back into business. I hadn't even thought of looking on HP's website, because it was so NOT up to date a few months ago. Anyway, I'm not truly interested in it now that I've tried Android, but it's good to know that there's still that competition on the market, and that my ehm, "phone spiritual parent" (?) lives. :p

And thanks for the Tungsten, but it died a while back. And that old device didn't have anything close to my Android phone's, so.

Well they said they'd be releasing the source code for the OS to the public, so that it essentially because another open-source OS similar to Android. they've been very slow with it though and there have been a few steps they've taken that the dev community hasn't really liked.
