ok what do you like better? lets have a battle!

1. your choice.

2. why.

3. what does the other one lack?

does anyone even know what last.fm is? its pretty much the same thing?

Last.fm only because it is built into TuneWiki (such a great app) and I like having all my music in one app. As a stand alone though, I think Pandora -or Slacker Radio - trumps Last.fm.

I am hoping TuneWiki introduces Pandora - and AOL Radio - into their next build though.

I tried Pandora very early on, thought it was a good idea but it didn't find anything new I liked.
A year or so later, I tried last.fm and it was easy for me to find stations with fringe music that I had never heard of. So I've stuck with it. I should try Pandora again, but I have no reason to leave last.fm really.

For some reason, whenever I listen to Last.FM, I always end up with new-age indie crap that sounds like it belongs in an Old Navy commercial on my station, even if I'm trying to listen to something like classic rock. For this reason alone, I like Pandora.

I've been trying Pandora again since reading this thread earlier. I like a lot of the music it's choosing.
I like the personalized, social network feel of last.fm - scrobbling and keeping track of everything. And when I "love" a track there, it posts to my FriendFeed which I also like.
I like them both for different reasons now, and I don't know which one to stick with.

last.fm

music fits well

Seconded. Plus I started with last.fm and that's where all my user data is tied to (a year or two of listening history). So I'm pretty inclined to stick with it just for that alone. Don't know if Pandora is better because I've only really used Last. But I have no complaints and have found a *lot* of new bands via Last, I find their suggestions very accurate with my tastes.

1. Last.fm

2. Pandora not available in UK

3. Don't know - never tried Pandora

neumannator your picture scares me :(

Pandora -- not only does it do a great job finding music within popular and alternative genres, but it works remarkably well within subgenres of world and classical music, too. Last.fm is basically useless when out comes to those categories.

I "prefer" Pandora, but I can't say that I've ever really used last.fm. I thought I'd check it out for the 360 integration, but really, I don't listen to music at home (in the office or in the car or out running), so that hasn't led me to try it yet. I'll eventually try it, I think.
