Parse Error

I am new to Android, and I have been trying to download .apk files onto my phone. I've tried different one, but I keep getting the Parse Error. I have tried using file managers to dowlnoad them, but it still doesn't work. I have no idea on what I should do.

Just a thought... where are you downloading the apk's from? Have you selected "unknown sources" - this allows you to download apps that are not from the android market.

I am running a custom ROM on my phone, but think that you should be able to (from a homescreen) hit "menu=>settings=>security" and there is a tick box in there. This could solve your issue.

Let us know if this helps... if not, we can try to suggest something else!

Hi ...

I am also getting a parse error.

If you tick "allow installation of non market applications" will this solve the parse error?

If you are trying to install apps that are not from Google Play, then you would need to tick the "unknown sources" box... try it and let us know if this solves your issue :)

Hi, I selected the unknown sources and I still get the parse error. Is there anyway to get around the parse error and install the app.

i am also getting the parse error in my samsung admire. i downloaded the resident evil 4 game and i keeo getting the parse error when try to open it . i have already checked the unkown sources option and still no luck

I believe devices throw out a Parse Error when the app is built for a version of android that is newer than what is loaded on the phone. IE, JellyBean app and the phone is on IceCreamSandwich.

everytime that i install skype on my android there is an error and always parsing ive tried another one but it is work but when skype i downloading i keep getting oarse error
