Passdroid app?

According to AppBrain it was withdrawn from the Play Store on November 29th, after not being updated for almost 5 years. Google search's cache of the Play Store entry for it bears this out (the most recent cache showing an entry dates from mid November). That's assuming this is the app you were asking about.

To be honest if it hadn't been updated for that long it was probably removed on a technicality, such as some minimum compatibility level no longer being met. I don't know - only the developer will have been told - but my guess is something like that (though the developer's other apps, which are of a similar age, are still there).

Interestingly I can't find a copy in apkmirror.com, which is usually a good place to look for old apps or older versions of apps (it's curated by the people from Android Police, so it's one of the few sites I regard as safe to download apks from). I don't know whether this is just because its last update was a year or more before apkmirror was set up.

If you are looking for a good PW manager for Android (and one whose database you can also use across other devices), you should look at KeePass, and its Android port KeePass2Android.

I've been using KeePass for years on my computers, and I was happy when there was the first version of a port to Android, in the form of KeePassDroid. In fact, KeePass2Android is based upon the original KeePassDroid, but it has taken it a lot further, to the point where K2A can now read and write both KeePass 1.x databases as well as 2.x databases. It natively supports most of the same functions as KP 2.x, including Timed One Time Passwords (TOTP), which means no more need for a software like Google Authenticator. Databases can be protected with any combination of:
  • password
  • key file
  • Windows account (obviously not a good idea for databases you plan on using on Android devices though).
And, Philip, dev of K2A, has also enabled a ẞeta system for K2A, and the current ẞeta version of his app already supports Android Oreo's native PW autofill framework, but there is no verification if it, too, is subject to the leak possible as in a few other popular password mgmt apps for Android, as noted in this XDA article.

I will reach out to Philip for more information on this.

Even then, though, it is well worth exploring - I currently have not enabled the autofill feature as I prefer to use the K2A keyboard to enter user names and PWs manually (sort of - buttons that enter the required fields when I want to, without having to type them in).

Passdroid does not need to be updated. it works well as it is. The best thing about Passdroid is that it does not want access to the network or any kind of communication and thus can not spread your passwords to anyone.

I found Passdroid here now when I needed it for a new phone.
