I forgot the password to my android tablet, I can't get in, what do I do

Forgetting the PIN or password to access the tablet's homescreen and functions will require a data wipe/factory reset in recovery. Since you didn't specify which tablet you have, I can only advise you to go to Google, and type the brand & model of your tablet followed by the word RECOVERY. You should learn what combination of buttons to press to access it.
Factory reset will wipe ALL user data from the device, sadly: all apps, app data, settings and other customizations will be reset to out-of-the-box state. If the tablet has an SD card, remove it BEFORE resetting it. Once you're back up & running, you can re-insert it. Sorry I don't have better news
